Bedsheets

A bedsheet is a rectangular piece of cloth used as bedding. It is placed immediately above a mattress or bed, but below blankets and other bedding (such as comforters and bedspreads). Bed sheets come in two main varieties: flat and fitted.

• Flat sheets are simply a rectangular sheet of cloth. They are typically used in conjunction with a fitted sheet to make up a bed. Flat sheets can be tucked in at the bottom and sides of the bed, or they can be left loose.
• Fitted sheets have four corners, and sometimes two or four sides, fitted with elastic, to be used only as a bottom sheet. The fitted sheet may also be secured using a drawstring instead of elastic. The purpose of a fitted bottom sheet is to keep it from slipping off the mattress while the bed is in use.

Bed sheets are typically made from cotton, linen, or polyester. Cotton is the most common material, and it is known for being soft, breathable, and absorbent. Linen is a more luxurious material that is also breathable and absorbent. Polyester is less expensive than cotton and linen, and it is wrinkle-resistant.

When choosing bed sheets, it is important to consider the following factors:

• Material: The material of the bed sheets will affect their feel, breathability, and durability.
• Size: The bed sheets should be the same size as the mattress.
• Color: The color of the bed sheets is a matter of personal preference.
